LIVE MASTERCLASS · CATHOLIC MIRACLES

The Object Test

Does the evidence oblige you to become Catholic? I grant every miracle for the sake of argument. Then I show what they actually confirm, and why declining Rome isn’t a mistake.

Saturday, November 14 · 9–11 a.m. Pacific · Live on Zoom · $47

You’ve Heard the Argument

Maybe you’ve heard it put bluntly. Joe Schmid says the Catholic miracle evidence is “manifestly better” than the evidence for the resurrection, and that “the total objective evidence rationally obliges Catholicism.” Ethan Muse calls declining Rome “a heart issue, not a head issue.”

Maybe you’ve looked at Fatima, Lourdes or Lanciano, and the evidence is better than you expected. And the usual Protestant answers don’t hold up. Calling it fraud doesn’t survive the documents. Calling it demonic proves too much.

There’s a better answer, and you don’t have to deny a single miracle to give it.

Does the Evidence Oblige You to Become Catholic?

One live session, one question, and every miracle granted for the sake of argument. Enrollment closes Thursday, November 12.

Three Key Things You'll Learn

What was the sign declared to confirm?

A sign confirms what it was declared to confirm. You’ll learn four questions that test any miracle, and why God confirming a message isn’t God commissioning a legate.

Fatima, Lourdes, Zeitoun, Padre Pio, Etc.

We’ll read the 1917 Fatima record in the original Portuguese, take on Lourdes as the hardest case, and look at the control case Ethan Muse himself accepts.

Why you can decline Rome with a clear conscience

Why Easter passes the same test the modern miracles fail, and why declining Rome on this evidence isn’t irrational, immoral or “a heart issue.”

Everything We'll Cover

  • The dilemma. Why believing the resurrection doesn’t commit you to Rome, even if the Catholic evidence is better.
  • When a claim binds you. The two ways, and the four questions that test them on any miracle.
  • How signs confirm. Four cases from Scripture, explicit and implicit, Easter, and Garrigou-Lagrange on what a miracle can confirm.
  • Why a confirmed doctrine isn’t a credentialed church.
  • Fatima, from the 1917 documents. What the sign was declared to confirm, and when the Rome-related content first appears in writing.
  • Lourdes, the hardest case. Including what I concede.
  • Zeitoun and Padre Pio. The control case Muse accepts, and the case that convinced Joe Schmid.
  • The strongest counter. Why a pattern of Catholic miracles still doesn’t oblige anyone to accept Rome.
  • The “heart issue” charge. Why declining Rome on this evidence isn’t suppressing the truth.
  • What would prove me wrong. On the record.

Built On Catholic Sources

Vatican I, Dei Verbum, the Catechism, Cardinal Ratzinger’s commentary on Fatima, the Vatican’s 2024 norms on apparitions, the Church’s critical edition of the Fatima documents, and Garrigou-Lagrange.
